tending the little guyPosted by Jeff (Honolulu, United States) on 12 December 2007 in People & Portrait and Portfolio. While at the beach one evening I noticed this mother and child in the water. She was readying him for the oncoming waves and he was intent on the ocean that lay ahead of him. When I snapped off a few shots I did not get the results I was looking for: the people were too dark and the water they were standing in had a glare that was too bright, largely because of the exposure compensation setting I was using at the time. When I tried to lighten the people in photoshop the entire environment disappeared because the contrast was so strong. They came out fine, but in a totally white world. Almost like making a studio shot in the outdoors. So I decided to play with the image a bit more and this high key photograph is the result. ISO 100, 1/400, f/5.0, e.c.+1 2/3, 165mm of 70-300mm Image genre: High key black and white photograph This site is the sister of "Aloha Photo" which is a much more extensive photo site and can be viewed at http://alohaphoto.my-expressions.com/index.html. Often images are posted in both places, but aloha photo has been in operation since 2004, so it has many more photographs.
