While at the beach one evening I noticed this mother and child in the water. She was readying him for the oncoming waves and he was intent on the ocean that lay ahead of him. When I snapped off a few shots I did not get the results I was looking for: the people were too dark and the water they were standing in had a glare that was too bright, largely because of the exposure compensation setting I was using at the time. When I tried to lighten the people in photoshop the entire environment disappeared because the contrast was so strong. They came out fine, but in a totally white world. Almost like making a studio shot in the outdoors. So I decided to play with the image a bit more and this high key photograph is the result.
